Historic Nye Beach

For centuries, people from Portland and the Willamette Valley have visited Nye Beach to get away from it all. It’s the ideal spot to fly a kite, dig for clams, or stroll on the beach.

The sprawling sandy beach is the ideal place to unwind while you savor an ice cream or photograph the wildlife. You can also visit the nearby Yaquina Bay lighthouse, believed to be the oldest building in Newport. Built in 1871 and decommissioned a mere three years later, it’s now a museum open to the public.
