The Sand Lake Recreation Area is a spectacular sandy refuge on Oregon's North Coast. During the warmer months, this area is also a popular off-road recreation area. “U” shaped dunes shift in the wind offering an ever-changing landscape for ATV enthusiasts.
Windswept beaches dotted with beach grass and shore pine are an ideal home for water fowl. They area is also an excellent place to kayak, crab, hike, comb the beach, explore the tide pools or swim.
The area is part of the Siuslaw National Forest, bordered on the east by the Willamette Valley and the Pacific Ocean on the west. The hardy Sitka spruce grows in this temperate region as well as a wide variety of vegetation, fish, and wildlife.
